Negative is an experimental landscape project that illuminates the enduring effects of the political unrest in Hong Kong. Its aim is to reveal the personal and collective traumatic memories that linger just beneath the surface of the Hong Kong cityscape, as well as to uncover the consciousness of Hongkongers in the wake of a catastrophic uprising. By photographing the remnants of this unrest that remain in public spaces, Negative proposes a new visual strategy for re-familiarizing viewers with the violent event and its aftermath.
